Workers’ Compensation in Illinois is complicated . . . Do you know everything you need to know about the Illinois WC system? Attorney Jim Egan of Keefe, Campbell, Biery & Associates will begin with a review of the basics of Workers’ Compensation in Illinois, including benefits, the Workers’ Compensation Commission, and handling a claim of injury from the beginning to end. He will then analyze and discuss in-depth important topics such as Temporary Total/Partial Disability, Nature and Extent of Injury, Wage Loss Differential, Discovery, Liens and related claims against WC benefits in Illinois, Surveillance, Retaliatory Discharge and How to Handle WC Death Claims.

Discussion will center on the controlled prescription drug epidemic in the US, how the epidemic impacts workers’ compensation and methods to mitigate this problem, as well as the roles of all stakeholders (employer, injured worker, nurse case manager, claims handler, PBM, Peer to Peer Review, Drug UR, Urine drug monitoring) and best practices.

            Workshop #2 Functional Capacity Evaluations Explained

An explanation of the protocol for most FCEs and comparison of the different types of tests available in the Chicagoland market.  What elements make a quality FCE, how to analyze the results, and when the test should be requested.  Live demonstrations of the FCE testing to improve understanding of the testing process.

            Workshop #3 Dealing with OSHA Enforcement and Regulations

Today’s OSHA is deeply focused on enforcement.  Increased penalties and public shaming through broad press releases are methods to “encourage” compliance.  Be sure your organization is ready if OSHA shows up for an inspection.  Includes updated information on changed OSHA laws and guidance.

Workshop #1: Integrated Case Management: Mitigating Cost Drivers in Workers’ Compensation Cases

Review of current trends and cost drivers in WC cases and how an integrated case management approach can mitigate costs of the claim. Will include what the claims handler should monitor for, which cost drivers need to be monitored more closely and how to use this information for predictive modeling.

Workshop #2: OSHA Compliance and How It Relates to Workers‘ Compensation

Friends, clients and friends of clients!!! Join the KCB&A attorneys, families and friends on July 18, 2015 in Elmhurst. Things are heating up and it's PIG on the menu. Come join us for food, drink and fun at our second annual PIG ROAST! We are closing the street so you won’t be able to miss seeing all of the tables.
